I waited till the bird swam into the reflections of autumn trees. I used a Tamron 200-500mm lens to leave out everything else.

I wanted to show both the clouds and their relections, so I used a very wide angle lens. In this case, a Tamron 11-18mm.

Most of the autumn colors were on the ground. So I got low to the ground, myself, with a Tamron 17-50mm lens.

I used a Tamron 70-200mm lens to isolate a portion of the lake, with fog, floating pollen, and reflections of trees. Then I used Nik Silver Efex to convert to black and white.

This is a High Dynamic Range (HDR) version of the scene. Seven exposures were combined, using Photomatix software.

Montgomery Bell State Park is 3800 acres of rolling hills, hollows, forests and lakes in middle Tennessee. The park also happens to be just 5 miles from my house. So I go there often in search of landscape and scenic photographs. In fact, Montgomery Bell State Park is my default destination these days, the place I visit throughout the changing seasons, in every kind of weather, to develop my vision and hone my skills as a nature/fine art photographer.
