Maine Colors

Maine Colors

This beautiful little river sits along the road on the way to Pemaquid Lighthouse. We timed our visit to coincide with the peak fall colors. Each year I teach a workshop in Acadia National Park and I always allow a few extra days on each end to visit the Lighthouses and surrounding areas.

Path through the Birches

Path through the Birches

One of my favorite images from Acadia! The red leaves lining the path along with the white birch trees and green grasses all pull together to make this image an outstanding one!

Blackwater River

Blackwater River

I made this image during a winter scouting trip to Blackwater Falls, West Virginia. When we arrived they had three feet of snow and the access was limited without snowshoes. But of course the snow made everything picture perfect.

Cadillac Mountain Sunrise

Cadillac Mountain Sunrise

At 1,532 feet, Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park is the highest point along the North Atlantic seaboard and is the first place to view sunrise in the United States. On our first morning of my annual Maine workshop we were blessed with a beautiful sunrise overlooking the harbor.

Shay's Run Falls

Shay's Run Falls

This beautiful area is located inside the Blackwater Falls State Park in West Virginia. With the right light and equipment you can make some amazing images of the waterfalls and breathtaking views the park offers.

Winding Glen Meadow

Winding Glen Meadow

This image was made about a mile from my house. You truly don’t have to go to exotic locations to make great images. You just need to have an open mind and a creative eye. By adding a foreground element along with some morning mist in the valley it made for a strong composition!

Fall Along the Brandywine

Fall Along the Brandywine

I captured this image of the fall colors along the banks of the Brandywine River. The Brandywine River winds from Southeastern Pennsylvania into Delaware carving out the beautiful rolling hills and valleys that are the landmarks of the Brandywine Valley. The Valley is where the Battle of Brandywine was fought.

Great Oak

Great Oak

This image was from a workshop in Charleston, South Carolina this past spring. We arrived at Magnolia Gardens just before sunrise to work the different areas and this was our first image of the morning.

Sheldon Reynolds Falls

Sheldon Reynolds Falls

This past winter I made a trip to Ricketts Glen State Park, in north central Pennsylvania. The park is closed unless you have proper equipment which consists of ice crampons along with a rope and hiking staffs.

View from Otter Cliffs

View from Otter Cliffs

Here's a classic view of the Maine Coastline. We positioned ourselves to over-look Otter Cove and Thunder Hole. Plus the beautiful pink granite and the Spruce trees line the shoreline.

Jefferson Memorial

Jefferson Memorial

Every year I take a group of photographers down to photograph the Cherry Blossom in Washington, DC. This year we had a spectacular sunrise and I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at just the right time!

"Learning to Capture Light will make extraordinary images from ordinary subjects"! Each of the images displayed here were made in the 2010 calendar year from various locations around the east coast. All of the images were made with a Nikon D3 camera, Gitzo tripod and various Tamron Lenses. My Tamron lenses range from wide-angles to tele-photo with various apertures. As a professional photographer I believe it is very important to use your equipment properly and when done so you can achieve amazing results!
