Crater Lake reflects the September full moon placing Wizard Island in the shadows.
First quarter--the illuminated (sunlit) portion of the Moon as seen from earth.
Balanced Rock, Arches National Park, Moab, Utah.
The geological feature is lit from the sitting sun as the moon rises.
The unusual desert reflection was created due to heavy rains.
Full Harvest Moon
This full moon's name is attributed to Native Americans because it marked when corn was supposed to be harvested, and is closest to the autumn equinox.
Milky Way at the Arch
Delicate Arch photographed at night, following moon set, to capture the Milky Way. The Milky Way is the galaxy that contains our Solar System. Its name "milky" is derived from its appearance as a dim glowing band arching across the night sky in which the naked eye cannot distinguish individual stars.
Moon lite, light painted Delicate Arch has an incredibly graceful shape set above the curving slickrock basin with the La Sal mountains in a cloud bank.
Radiant Moon Light
The setting harvest moon, hidden behind Delicate Arch, illuminated the dispersing clouds. The arch was light painted.
Photographed from the bottom of the Grand Canyon, the center point is Polaris, the Northstar. Trace color indicates the temperature of the star.
